HVISK ATELIER is a place to be creative - and to get inspired. We at HVISK meet a lot of artists on social media and in our ATELIER we ask them to interpret our collections and express them through their art. Their interpretations inspire us to look at our collections and what we do in a different way - and hopefully they inspire you too. For our next ATELIER collaboration we teamed up with the Belgian and Ghent based girl, Celina Vleugels. We had a chat with her about her work and the art work she did for us.

HVISK: WHAT DO YOU DO FOR A LIVING ?

CELINA:  I am studying my Master's in Textile Design, so I am always looking for ways to express my own world and feelings through art. Besides my studies I challenge myself by participating in projects like open calls, residences and exhibitions so that I can broaden my personal creative path after I graduate this summer. I love working with others who are specialized in other mediums, which allows us to teach each other new things and also reinforces them to one another.

HVISK: WHAT IS YOUR CREATIVE MEDIUM?

CELINABefore my studies in textiles, I also got a Master's degree in painting. So creating images with a background in painting has taught me a lot. My work can be described in between Painting and Textiles. I like to explore with new materials that contain a certain tactility. Last year I discovered felting and I also made this technique my own by incorporating it into patchworks, in combination with paint, hand embroidered pieces, thread, and different fabrics.

HVISK: WHAT DOES HVISK MEAN TO YOU?

CELINAFor me HVISK stands for the joy and playfulness of everyday life: full of vivid colors and style. The shapes, prints and designs of the collections enhance the necessary self-confidence everyone needs. HVISK forms that magical spark to finish the complete outfit, and make a look remarkable. As well as the strong foundation that radiates as a vegan brand and the sustainable aspect that works as a unifying factor, makes HVISK exceptional!

HVISK: WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR THE WORK?

CELINAThe inspiration for this patchwork piece were nostalgic memories of childhood that arises with the scent of Spring. I was mesmerized by the different forms and patterns from the KIND CREATURES collection, and brought me back to the uninhibited and light experience of childhood moments. I wanted to create the feeling of 'nothing can stop you and everything you can imagine is real!
